The “setup wizard” is a step by step guide to setup the Wi-Fi landing page for a group of locations. Here we can customize login methodes, data fields, teksts and design of the Wi-Fi page that is presented to end customers when they try to connect to the Wi-Fi service using their mobile device.
- Be aware that changing these settings will affect all devices/locations in the group.
- The setup wizard is only available if a selected group is configured for locations management. Otherwise this option will be grayed-out entirely.

Selecting a different login method will change the look of the Wi-Fi page drastically, adding or removing input fields as they are needed.
If you can not select a login method because all login methods are grayed-out or no login method is visible, usually this means a custom solutions has been implemented to your Wi-Fi landing page. Selecting a different option is only possible by contacting Picopoint.

One or more languages can be selected to make the Wi-Fi landing page available in multiple languages. Users will be able to change all landing page texts for all the different languages later on in the setup wizard, when configuring texts.
If you select more than one language a new option becomes available that allows you to select the “Default language”. This is the language that will be used when users first visit the Wi-Fi landing page, while another language can be selected from a drop-down listbox on the top-right of the page. Select a default language that is the most common amongst your Wi-Fi users.
Select SSID #
A “Service Set IDentifier” or “SSID” is the name that appears when users are using the mobile device to find a suitable Wi-Fi network. The SSID is presented as the name of your Wi-Fi network in the list of available Wi-Fi networks. If supported by hardware, the SSID can be set from the setup wizard. However this is not always supported and depends on the hardware vendor’s implementation.
Options #
The “Options” page contains additional options that apply to the login method that the user selected in the previous step.
Redirect URL #
If a URL is entered here, the Wi-Fi user is sent to that URL after the Wi-Fi login is completed. This works best on iOS devices, on Android devices the Wi-Fi popup may close before the URL is loaded.
Security key #
Setting a security key will require users to enter a password before being able to connect to the WiFi network. A security key is also known as WPA key. Set the security key to block unwanted access to the WiFi connection by other parties (e.g. a neighbouring office or business).
Design Wi-Fi page #
The Wi-Fi page design can be changed on this page. Images can be replaced by uploading correctly formatted image files. Colors can be changed using the color pickers, or by directly entering the appropriate hex color code. Changes can be reviewed in the live preview panel.
Logo #
The logo image can be uploaded as .png file, to allow for a transparent background which is useful for logo’s. In the base template, the logo image size should be at least 80 by 80 pixels, and at most 400 by 160 pixels. This allows for square and landscape oriented logo’s.
Banner #
The banner image can be uploaded as .jpg file, to allow for higher compression in order to reduce your Wi-Fi page size and loading times. In the base template, the banner image size should be at least 800 by 200 pixels, and at most 1,600 by 400 pixels. It is recommended to stick with a 4:1 aspect ratio so the banner fits the template properly.
Text colors #
When making background color or text color adjustments, it is recommended to maintain readability.
Configure texts #
All texts on the Wi-Fi page can be changed. The texts that are displayed depend on the selected login method and available languages. Change can be reviewed in the live preview panel.
Multiple languages #
If you have opted to support multiple languages, the selected language will appear as tabs above the language text fields. Select the tab of the language you wish to edit. Every text can be changed for every available language.
Targeted content #
Targeted content can be used to show personalised content on the Wi-Fi page after login is successful. Based on visitor demographics or visitor behaviour, the user base can be sliced into groups called “target audiences”. Each target audience group can then be shown specific content that should appeal to that group.
Selecting a target audiences #
To start, first you need a target audience. To create a new target audience click “New target audience”. You can also use an existing target audience. Existing target audiences will appear in the dropdown listbox, newly created target audiences will also be added in the dropdown listbox. Either way, select your target audience from the dropdown listbox, and click the “Add” button.
Adding targeted content #
Once a target audience has been selected, a new row will be added under “active content”. On the left of this row has your selected target audiences’ name and description. On the right side there is an image upload field. Here you can upload an image that will be displayed to all visitors that match the selected target audience, after Wi-Fi login is successful. Multiple sets of targeted content can be configured. If a visitor matches more than one of your target audiences, all content will be displayed in the order they appear on this page.
Removing targeted content #
Targeted content that has been configured can also be removed. Click the trash can icon on the top-left of an active content row, and the row will be removed.
