Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, offcourse. When you sell Internet Vouchers, you want them to look good, and preferable to make them so clear that you have no problem with people not knowing how to use them. We know which companies can print them, and we have our own design team who will make sure that the vouchers are in your corporate style.
It works quite simple. Based on the type of customer (are you a WISP or a single venue owner?) type of location, amount of investment to be done by the customer and PicoPoint a revenue share scheme is setup. this can range from 15% towards 80-100%, depending on the above mentioned parameters. There are also scheme's where the revenue share is progressive or regressive, again, all depending on local circumstances. We at Picoint are flexible in this, at the and of the day your success is our success.
The prefered way Picopoint wants to do business, is via revenue share. But, if there is no other way, we can make agreements based on a fixed price per type of location, per session, per unique user, whatever fits your needs best.
Yes, offcourse. We can help you setting up a business model, together with a network plan, hardware plan, marketing plan and revenue prognosis. Some of our WISPS are ready to take on the initial investments, so you can take the revenues, even without investing any money, just by making a revenue sharing agreement.
At the moment we see that more and more people are having devices with Wi-Fi technology inside. This means that not only business hotels, air ports and exibition areas are the favourits, but also camping sites, family hotels, lunch rooms and other leisure areas.
Nowadays it is very popular for large companies to give their personnel a subscription to, for example, Boingo or I-pass, 2 of the largest roaming partners in the world. This subscribtion enables people to access connected Hot-Spots without paying every time. The roaming partners are paying the hotspot owners a fee per minute usage. This means that your hotspot generates instant money when someone with a roaming contract makes use of your location. It is an added way to earn more money from your hotspot location.
If you partner with PicoPoint, all your locations are directly connected to all the large roaming partners like Boingo, I-Pass, KPN, Vodafone, etc.
(The technical roaming standard, used by all roaming partners is called WISPr, and was actually based on Picopoint standards in 2002).
Gatekeeper is the name of the Portal that enables our customer to manage their wireless networks. It is an online portal, and customers are using it to create vouchers, add locations, see the usage of their networks, view financial data, etc.
